Witnesses reported seeing a man outside an apartment complex, banging on doors and armed with a handgun, according to a release from the Mesa Police Department.
Two officers arrived and found a man outside matching the description and “gave him clear, reasonable commands to comply. The man failed to comply with the officers’ commands, leading to an officer-involved shooting that happened at 5:05 p.m.,” the release stated.
The suspect, 30, who police have not identified, was taken into custody, transported to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds and was listed in stable condition Friday night, police said. No officers were injured.
