Mesa Mayor John Giles made a spectacle out of his last State of the City address of his term as mayor at the Mesa Convention Center on Tuesday morning.
His presentation started with a “Star Wars” themed video introduction featuring guest appearances from Sen. Mark Kelly and rock legend Alice Cooper. Using smoke effects and a sci-fi theme, Mayor Giles recounted the accomplishments made by the city in 2023 and provided an optimistic outlook on Mesa’s future.
“Last year, Mesa was one of only 10 communities in the U.S. to receive the designation of all-American city by the National Civic League,” Mayor Giles said on Tuesday. “Mesa’s Asian District was recognized with a Gold award by the International Economic Development Council.”
