Slowing traffic

Mesa installing speed cushions on 1-mile section of 32nd Street

Speed cushions need to be installed on 32nd Street between McKellips Road and McDowell Road in Mesa to slow traffic, the city’s Transportation Advisory Board decided recently.

The board voted unanimously Jan. 16 to approve the installation after hearing from the principal at Ishikawa Elementary School, 2635 N. 32nd St., and from people who live on the 1-mile section of 32nd Street. Absent were board members Megan Neal, Rodney Jarvis, Ashley Gagnon and Tara Bingdazzo.

Vehicles often speed near the school, Ishikawa Principal Shelley Heath told the board.
