The Mesa City Council is set to vote on a contract at its Dec. 9 meeting that would allow for the city to transfer and dispose of solid waste materials collected by the Solid Waste Department to contracted facilities around the city.
The five-year contract is worth $4 million annually and would run from Jan. 1, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2029 if approved. The contract would be funded by the Solid Waste Operating Fund.
The contract, if approved, would be awarded to the highest-scoring bidder of an evaluation between Allied Waste Transportation Inc. and Waste Management of Arizona Inc.
