Mesa Community College President Dr. Tammy Robinson on Saturday will recognize the accomplishments of 2,163 students in successfully meeting academic standards to earn certificates of completion and associate degrees during the 2022-23 academic year.
More than 500 candidates will participate in the college’s 2023 graduation ceremony at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Arizona State University’s Desert Financial Arena.
The public is invited to begin gathering for the ceremony when the doors open at 8 a.m. Event details are available at mesacc.edu/graduation/event. A live stream of the event will commence when the program begins at 9 a.m. at mesacc.edu/live for those wishing to participate remotely.
The ceremony, themed Honor Your Past to Create Your Future, includes pre- and post-ceremony entertainment provided by the MCC Disc Jockey program.
Attendees will hear remarks from Micayla Berglund, president of the Associated Students of MCC, Red Mountain Campus; and DaShawn Hudgins, president of the Associated Students of MCC, Southern and Dobson Campus.
The college is to have guest speakers from the Maricopa County Community College District: Governing Board President Marie Sullivan and Chancellor Dr. Stephen Gonzales.
Shannon Poppell, who is graduating alongside her two sons, is the 2022-23 Class Honors Speaker.
Although every graduate has a tale to tell of the path that led to this special moment, several graduate candidates from different walks of life share details of their personal journey at mesacc.edu/graduation/graduation-success-stories in hopes of inspiring others.
MCC faculty and staff congratulate the students reaching this significant milestone in their lives, many who started their educational journey in the midst of a pandemic. Graduates are urged to take pride and strength in all they have accomplished.
