The Mesa Public Schools Adult Education Program is applying for a Arizona Adult Education Grant to continue its operations through 2028, according to the agenda from the Mesa Public Schools governing board’s Tuesday meeting.
The program provides literacy training, academic skills and employment opportunities to Mesa student adults in need, such as single parents, adults without a high school diploma, those who are disabled, adults with low literacy or low income, single homemakers and more.
Current funding for the 2023-24 school year is $825,195. They expect to request approximately $1 million per year in grant money from 2024 to 2028. The application was approved by the school board but requires approval from the Arizona Department of Education for funding to take place.
