Memorial Day affects some Tempe services; trash, recycling schedules unchanged

All administrative offices in Tempe will be closed Monday for Memorial Day, but emergency services will not be affected by the May 29 holiday nor will garbage and recycling operations, city officials said.

Bus and rail services will operate according to holiday/Sunday schedules. 

City libraries and arts centers will be closed, but most park facilities will be open:

  • Kiwanis Recreation Center, 6111 S. All-America Way, will be open from noon to 6 p.m., and the pool will be open from 1-5 p.m. (480-350-5201). The Tennis Center will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
  •  The Kiwanis Park Batting Range will be closed (480-350-5727).
  • Escalante Pool, 2150 E. Orange St., will be open from 1-5 p.m. (480-350-5204).
  • McClintock Pool, 1830 E. Del Rio Drive, will be open from 6-9 p.m. (480-350-5202).
  • The Cloud at Kiwanis Park, 5233 S. Ash Ave.; Esquer Park Splash Pad, 2407 E. McArthur Drive; and Jaycee Park Splash Pad, 715 W. Fifth St. will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (480-350-5200). The Hudson Park Splash Pad will remain closed for maintenance (1430 S. Cedar St., 480-350-5200).

The Escalante Multi-Generational Center, 2150 E. Orange St., will be open from noon to 6 p.m. (480-350-5800).

All other community centers will be closed.

The Ken McDonald and Rolling Hills golf courses will be open sunrise to sunset, according to the city.
