Voters in Arizona’s 4th Congressional District will have a choice of candidates, regardless of which primary they are voting in.
Congressional District 4, which covers Ahwatukee in Phoenix, Tempe and Chandler, is currently served by Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton. Stanton will have a competitor in the primary as two Republicans battle along with two independents on the ballot to take on the winner in the November general election.

Dr. Tisha Benoit is a doctor of integrative medicine and one of the two independent candidates. Her main issues include health care solutions, immigration and the opioid epidemic. She plans to advance a “Make Arizona Healthy Again” campaign, one that mirrors the nation’s Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s “Make America Healthy Again,” to eliminate existing health measures from the CDC.
Benoit also hopes to help with the unhoused population and those battling addiction by obtaining more grant funding to assist with sober living and bridge housing for those experiencing homelessness. She also wants to target inflation and find solutions for schools while keeping parent choice intact.
Jerone Davidson is an Arizona State University alum and former running back for the Oakland Raiders. He is running as a Republican after coming in last place in the 2022 CD 4 election.
Davidson is a supporter of the SAVE Act, a bill that now requires proof of citizenship to vote by a passport or birth certificate.
Davidson supports many of President Donald Trump’s ideas on abortion, health care, immigration and education. He plans on supporting all of the bills that promote parent choice in education and legislation that creates vocational and trade programs for high school students.
John Fillmore is a former Republican representative in the Arizona Legislature who now has many criticisms of the party. Running as an Independent, he still has many stances that align with the Republican party regarding immigration, and wants to ensure that “western Christian culture” is preserved.
Fillmore believes both the Democratic and Republican parties are self-serving and wants to continue his ideas of school funding and in-person voting in Congress.
Dr. Zuhdi Jasser is a cardiologist and internal medicine physician in Phoenix. He is running as a Republican, though has no apparent connection to Donald Trump or other members of the party.
His main issues include balancing the nation’s budget and improving the economy. As the child of immigrants, he wants to increase border security and officer presence.
He also plans on introducing legislation that would fund research for drug addiction and obesity.
Kai Newkirk is a progressive Democratic candidate for Congress who is set to take on current Rep. Greg Stanton in the primary. In 2020, his group “For All” protested against former Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and legislation regarding filibuster reform.
Newkirk says he has not taken any money from corporate PACs, including AIPAC, an organization that supports pro-Israeli political actions and policies.
Newkirk supports abolishing ICE and other immigration enforcement tools. He is campaigning on affordability for all, though has not explained policy on how to do so.
Congressman Greg Stanton answers questions about ICE during a press conference at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on March 23. Stanton is set to meet with the Chandler City Council at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 2, in a public meeting to be held on the fifth floor of City Hall, 88 E. Chicago Street, downtown Chandler.
Current Congressman and former mayor of Phoenix, Greg Stanton is running for his third term in Congress but only the second in CD4, Stanton currently sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and is a Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management. He is also a member of the Aviation Subcommittee and the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, as one of his passions as Mayor of Phoenix was improving Sky Harbor airport.
He is passionate about water and improving infrastructure and he secured $2 million for Tempe’s Kyrene Water Reclamation project.
