For Trish Trovato, driving nearly three hours from her Surprise home across the border into Mexico for dental work is well-worth the trip.

She’s had two crowns and a dental implant done in Los Algodones, Mexico over the past two years.

“It’s financial,” she said. “It’s quite a bit less to have it done down there, easily half the price. ”Ms. Trovato is part of a growing trend of what is known as medical tourism — people traveling to other countries for medical care.
