Jewish Family & Children's Services has closed it's Glendale office, with officials citing cuts to Arizona's Medicaid program as the reason.
The office, at 5701 W. Talavi Blvd. Suite 180 came along with the reduction of several behavioral health and administrative positions, according to JFCS in a press release.
The organization, founded in 1935, has provided a variety of services including mental health support at a variety of locations.
Officials said the cuts to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System made the closure necessary to ensure the organization's long-term sustainability. The organization said it could not make up the difference through philanthropic support.
These changes are painful but do not reflect a loss of mission. Despite decades of stretching every dollar, philanthropic support alone cannot bridge a gap in public funding that has gone unaddressed.
The organization is continuing to seek community support, which can be reached on this page.
