Meat Puppets plan Phoenix show, vintage live releases

Lots going on with legendary Valley combo, including their first downtown show in years

The Meat Puppets are planning a loud spring for their hometown fans.

On Saturday, April 18, the long-running Phoenix combo storms back into Crescent Ballroom for their first show there since 2019. They made the announcement on their social media Feb. 17 with the simple declaration: “This is happening!”

The Meat Puppets at their core are Curt Kirkwood on guitar and vocals, his younger brother Cris Kirkwood on bass, and drummer Derrick Bostrom — three desert lifers who’ve spent four decades bending punk, country, psychedelia and hard rock into something unmistakably their own, equal parts cosmic and cowpunk.
