The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has found the body of a man who went missing in Sun City West at the end of December.
Officials pulled the body of Edward Powers from the pond located near 135th Avenue and Deer Valley Drive, MCSO Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez stated in an email.
"The investigation is being labeled suspicious for investigating purposes," Sgt. Enriquez stated.
Deputies were at the scene to investigate the nature of Powers' death.
There is no threat to public safety but MCSO wants to ensure every detail is covered, Sgt. Enriquez stated.
The North County Fire & Medical District also responded to the area.
The pond is across from the Sun City West Fire District Station 103 and near Powers' residence on Golf Club Drive.
A resident called Independent Newsmedia describing dozens of emergency vehicles in a roped area near the intersection at about 3:30 p.m.
Sgt. Enriquez stated the case is still under investigation but there are no updates as of Jan. 16.
