The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has implemented system that allows users to customize emergency alerts for specific areas such as home and work locations.
RAVE Alerts will be used by 9-1-1 centers to notify the public during emergencies, including incidents of public safety concerns, traffic accidents, missing persons and wildfire evacuations.
It is a free service that allows users to sign up online to receive customized alerts via text message, email and voice message and is available to anyone who lives, works, travels through or visits Maricopa County, according to a release.
“The address can be your home location, work location or any other location that may be important to you,” MCSO officials said in the release.
In addition to emergency alerts, users can also choose to receive customizable community notifications, including those dealing with severe weather, safety, health, utility disruptions, road closures and more.
Emergency alerts will only be sent when there is an immediate threat to life and/or property, MCSO officials said. Community notifications will be sent when the criteria for sending an alert are met.
Citizens may log-in to their user profile and update their alert settings or unsubscribe at any time.
This service is provided by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office at no cost to the public; however, message and data rates may apply.
