MCSO prepares for homeless effort

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office personnel are preparing for another homeless sweep in the Agua Fria riverbed.

District 3 community outreach officers Michael Redman and Jonathon Sanchez were airborne Aug. 1 making a survey of the area to pinpoint where people are camping in the riverbed. They are working with the Arizona State Lands Department in the effort, according to Sanchez.

Lt. Scott Keller of District 3 said several homeless people died in the riverbed because of the heat.
