MCSO detectives arrest suspect in East Valley killing

A 36-year-old man has been arrested as the suspect in a Sept. 11 fatal stabbing in Guadalupe, authorities said.

Roman Rubalcava was taken into custody this week and booked on a first-degree murder charge, according to a release from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy found Amalio Castillo-Villareal, 65, about 11:45 p.m. Sept. 11 behind a bus stop on Avenida del Yaqui, just north of Calle Guadalupe. He had been stabbed.

MCSO detectives arrest suspect in East Valley killing

A 36-year-old man has been arrested as the suspect in a Sept. 11 fatal stabbing in Guadalupe, authorities said.

Roman Rubalcava was taken into custody this week and booked on a first-degree murder charge, according to a release from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy found Amalio Castillo-Villareal, 65, about 11:45 p.m. Sept. 11 behind a bus stop on Avenida del Yaqui, just north of Calle Guadalupe. He had been stabbed.

MCSO homicide detectives had few leads or physical evidence, and it took nearly a month for them to identify a suspect, officials said.

 “Even when the trail seems cold, our detectives never stop pursuing justice for victims and their families,” Sheriff Jerry Sheridan said.
