The crash occurred about 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, near South Rural and East Baseline roads.
Tempe police said the on-duty deputy was traveling southbound through the intersection when the county vehicle was T-boned by a semi-truck traveling eastbound.

MCSO deputy, truck driver injured in Tempe crash

A two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning in Tempe injured a Maricopa County Sheriff’s and a truck driver, police said.
The crash occurred about 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, near South Rural and East Baseline roads.
Tempe police said the on-duty deputy was traveling southbound through the intersection when the county vehicle was T-boned by a semi-truck traveling eastbound.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, adding there were no signs of impairment.
The intersection was closed for an extended period for an investigation.
