McCoy: Trash cans need to be out of sight

I am writing concerning the article in the newspaper dated March 17 (“Property rules up for discussion”).

I am a resident of Surprise and would like to voice my opinion of a situation in my neighborhood. When our property in Surprise was purchased in 2009, I was concerned that people did not put their garbage and trash containers in the back, out of sight.

My husband and I put in a sidewalk to the back to make it easy to store the containers. It is a very bad eyesore to see all the containers sitting at the street or next to the garage. It makes our neighborhood look trashy.

I would like the city to assess an ordinance that the containers must be stored behind the wall in the back. We have a beautiful city and we all need to do our part for the upkeep of it.

Thank you for the privilege of sharing with you my concern for our city and neighborhood.
