McCaleb: Make your opinions known on SmokeTree Resort project
I’m sure many of you are anxiously looking forward to eradicating the eyesore that is the current SmokeTree Resort. Now is the critical junction at which to speak out to your local government. This key parcel can have either positive or negative effects on our daily lives.
As a town resident, I would like to encourage other residents of Paradise Valley to familiarize themselves with the upcoming redevelopment of SmokeTree Resort. This shuttered resort is located on Lincoln, across from the upcoming Ritz-Carlton resort and a short distance from a major intersection at Scottsdale and Lincoln roads.
There are considerable factors regarding granting a special-use permit to the current owner and developer of the property. As such, it is vital that residents understand what is being proposed and to voice their concerns and/or support.

The Planning Commission has researched the proposed project and has sent it along to the Town Council. The Town Council will be holding study sessions on this project and will ultimately decide on the final plan put forth by the applicant.
Our Town Council members, as well as the Planning Commission, depend upon the residents of the town to reach out and voice any and all concerns they may have regarding this and any other development projects. Members of both governmental bodies are truly appreciative of those individuals who do take the time to involve themselves in matters that come before them.
I have personally attended quite a number of meetings and am impressed by how open and welcoming the members are to questions.
It is important to make your opinions and thoughts known to the town council. Equipped with public input, they are better able to make the decisions that benefit everyone. Contacting your Town Council members (and your Planning Commission members) is easy. Email addresses are listed for all members on the Town of Paradise Valley website.
