The American Lung Association’s lung force initiative celebrates Turquoise Takeover and Lung Cancer Action Week with a partnership that the Mayo Clinic campus in Scottsdale will be illuminated in turquoise, the initiative’s signature color, to help unite Arizona against lung cancer, the country’s number one cancer killer.

Each year, the Lung Association turns the nation turquoise to raise awareness for lung cancer, raise funds and inspire Americans to take action to prevent lung cancer and detect it earlier.

Mayo Clinic locations in both Arizona, which includes a hospital in Phoenix, and Minnesota will join other landmarks across the country in turning turquoise to bring more attention to the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. Use #LUNGFORCE when posting illumination photos on social media

While lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., the five-year survival rate— the percentage of people who are still alive five years after being diagnosed— has increased by nearly 40% over the past decade.
