Coordinating a growing, 10-year-old tournament that brings 84 amateur golfers from colleges and universities around the country to Litchfield Park is no simple task. Toss a pandemic into mix, and the challenges are magnified immeasurably.
Despite the uphill battle of COVID-19, the West Valley Mavericks Foundation and its partners — Arizona Golf Association, Golf Coaches Association of America and JDM Partners — pulled off the 2020 Patriot All-America Golf Invitational held Dec. 27 to 31 at the Wigwam Golf Club.
They created a COVID-19 mitigation plan approved by the Litchfield Park City Council, set up a live stream so those who weren’t able to attend could still enjoy the action and kept intact the tournament’s mission of honoring America’s heroes while having a good time.
