Matt Giordano is the new top cop for the Phoenix Police Department, the city announced Tuesday on its website.
Giordano, who was most recently executive director of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, said the Phoenix Police Department should “get the cream of the crop” when it comes to recruiting and retention of police officers at a June public forum.
At the forum, finalists for the Phoenix chief of police were given questions on their background, qualifications and policing philosophy by a city of Phoenix moderator. Some questions were submitted by residents from an online survey.
