Mathias: The U.S. Congress must act to help struggling families in Arizona
I agree with everything that Francis Pitts said (“Pitts: I’m a conservative urging Sen. Sinema to support working families,” Daily Independent, Oct. 2, 2021).
My husband works for himself and he is not getting many jobs due to the fact that people can’t afford it any more. If he gets a job he discounts it just to work.

I am a disabled nurse with leukemia, renal failure, Crohn’s disease and a few other things that the docs are trying to figure out. We can’t afford the medical bills and some new prescriptions.
I do get disability, but it is not much. We do get by, not much meat, mostly pasta, rice, etc. I know that we have it better than most families. We could use some more money, but doubt that it will happen. I am grateful for what we have and have shared with others.
I hope that the senator can get lower-income to lower-middle class families some help.
