McDonald, APACHE JUNCTION - Mary Elizabeth Walkes McDonald, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with Our Lord on June 12th, 2011, at Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa , AZ. "Liz", as she was known to her family and friends, was born March 17th, 1927, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Oda and Almira Allard. She was married to Johnny Walskes and lived in Rock Island, Ill. for 40 years prior to his death in 1994. In 1999, she married Thomas "Copey" McDonald and moved to Knoxville, Iowa. Copey preceded her in death in 2006. Liz has 8 siblings who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Walskes Spaulding and her husband, Sam Spaulding, with whom she has resided since 2006; her grandchildren, Melissa Diekman and her husband Eric; and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Seth and Alex; Gene Spaulding and his wife, Amy, Alexis and Brenden, and Angela Spauling and great-grandson Johnny. A Memorial Service was held at First Assembly of God in Apache Junction, AZ on June 16th. Inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetary, Rock Island, Ill will be at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to the First Assembly of God, for their Latin American Child mission work, 651 N. Ocotillo Drive, Apache Junction, AZ 85120.
