Marshall Finch, 94Former Sun City West resident Marshall Seaver Finch died Jan. 7, 2008 in Denver, where he had resided since December 2006, after a two-year battle with kidney cancer.A celebration-of-life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at his former Sun City West residence - The Madison Retirement Home, 18626 Spanish Garden Drive.Mr. Finch was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Kirksville, Mo., He attended Washington University and graduated in l935 with a mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University.In his early career, Mr. Finch worked for Boeing and Martin Companies (later Martin Marietta) in the aviation industry. During World War II he designed military aircrafts, once working on a contract for "Flying Clipper Ships" with Hughes Aircraft. For more than 33 years, Mr. Finch was co-owner of McKay Electric Company in Fort Wayne, Ind.Marshall and Margaret Finch were married in l940 and retired in Sun City West in l982, where they were active members of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd. He was a Sun City West Posse member and was active with the Sun City West Bocce Club. In earlier days, he served his church in every capacity including being deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He was also a Boy Scout leader and investment club member.Although he was a transplanted Coloradan, he remained an avid Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns fan, rooting from his nursing home for their victories.He was preceded in death in 2001 by his wife, Mr. Finch is survived by a sister, Gertrude McCabe in Boston; a daughter Sarah Clayton (Brent) in Denver; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of which live in Colorado.
