Marjorie Dallas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Marjorie Dallas, an extraordinary woman and centenarian, led an incredible life that included travel throughout the U.S. and Central America providing interior design services for restaurants, museums, churches, homes, planes, and ships, including work for celebrities, ranchers, and other private individuals. Working with her husband, Wylie R. Dallas, they customized complete interiors for their clients including his adapted furniture designs, handcrafted in the W.R. Dallas Furniture Studios in San Antonio. After retirement, they moved to Sun City, Ariz., where Marjorie became a master weaver. In her later years, she lived in Hondo, before relocating in 2004 to Corpus Christi to be closer to family. In later years, she participated in numerous activities, including cruising and traveling internationally, as well as participating in bingo groups, reading, birdwatching, beachcombing, and dining out with family and friends. Marjorie was born on Nov. 29, 1909, in Sulphur, Okla., and was raised in Webb City, Mo., by her mother, Thannie Tinsley Pritchett, and Dr. Paul Pritchett. She passed away on Sept. 26, 2010 in Corpus Christi. She is survived by her niece, Linda Shaw of Tucson, Ariz.; her cousins, Jim Ballard of Abilene, John Ballard of Corpus Christi and Martha Ballard of Sarasota, Fla.; as well as grand nieces and nephews, Milton Gibbs and Robert Hing of Laramie, Wyoming, Paul Hing of Elkton, Md., Janet Hing of Winerset, Iowa, Karen Hing of Denver, Colo., Frode Shaw of Morrison, Colo., Kimberley Papke of Arvada, Colo., and John Shaw of Lathrup Village, Mich.
