Marie Verne

Marie died peacefully at Rock Creek Alzheimer's Care Facility in Surprise Arizona on December 26, 2016. Born and raised in St. Augustine, Fla. on 12-29-34 to the late Charles and Claire (Dunn) Becker. She was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Kekich, Clare Jacobs; and brother, Eddie; Also, husband, Marek Verne; step-daughter, Janet Verne; and grandson, Casey Gohring. Survived by brother, John Becker of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Pam Basil (Skip), Penny Gohring (Steve) of Columbus, Ohio; and step-daughter, Debbie (Verne) Plank; survived by grandchildren, Sean (Kim), Larry, Brian (Tally), Nick (Sienna); great- grandchildren, Blaine, Dray, Tyler, Sophia, Allison, Casey James and Maggie. There are many friends in Columbus, Ohio and Sun City West. Marie was an excellent baker and homemaker. She was generous with her baking talents and gave goods to friends who anticipated her care packages. Friends are welcome to attend the memorial graveside service at National Memorial Cemetery at 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Paul Bach from 'Hospice of the West' officiating, with an invitation to lunch following.
