The potential for temperatures up to 117 degrees has placed six Arizona counties, including Maricopa and Pinal, under an excessive heat warning until Tuesday.
The National Weather Service issued the warning for Maricopal, Pinal, La Paz, Pima, Santa Cruz and Yuma counties, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Such temperatures have the potential to cause life-threatening illnesses and possibly death, DHS stated in a release.

The National Weather Service issued the warning for Maricopal, Pinal, La Paz, Pima, Santa Cruz and Yuma counties, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Such temperatures have the potential to cause life-threatening illnesses and possibly death, DHS stated in a release.
Health officials advise limiting outdoor time, drinking plenty of fluids - not alcohol or drinks with caffeine or sugar - and using SPF 30+ sunscreen when outdoors.
