Arizona voters were rejecting Proposition 142, a proposed constitutional amendment restricting diversity, equity and inclusion policies in public institutions, according to early election results Tuesday night.
In Maricopa County, 986,372 voters, or 62.1%, opposed the measure, compared with 602,031 voters, or 37.9%, supporting it as of approximately 9:43 p.m.
The proposition would expand existing constitutional restrictions on preferential treatment and discrimination, including prohibiting certain race-based DEI requirements in public education, government employment and contracting.
