Maricopa County Recorder credits partnerships, tech for primary election's success

As the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors meets to certify election results this morning, the county’s top election official considers how lessons learned in last week’s primary inform the upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election.

According to the office of County Recorder Adrian Fontes, as of Aug. 7, elections officials had counted all but 2,385 out of a record-breaking 857,873 ballots cast by Arizona primary voters.

Election officials this year reported an increase in ballots cast of 22% compared with the previous midterm election; and a whopping 54% jump compared with the most recent presidential election year primary turnout.
