The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously this week to provide $2.3 million to improve opportunities for homeownership in Guadalupe.
“Maricopa County is working to ensure more families have a permanent, safe and affordable place they can call home,” District 5 Supervisor Steve Gallardo said.
“These projects not only provide homeownership opportunities for families in Guadalupe, but they also enhance the quality of life and build hope in this community.”
The funding, part of the American Rescue Plan Act and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s HOME Investment Partnerships Program, has gone toward the construction of three homes, with a plan of seven more homes to be built.
The three completed homes, each featuring four bedrooms and 1¾ bathrooms, a two-car garage and 1,500 square feet of living space, have been sold. Six new two-story homes will be built on two lots at 5603 E. Calle Iglesia and 5604 E. Calle Mexico. The six homes will feature three bedrooms, 1¾ bathrooms and approximately 2,500 square feet of living space, according to a county release.
The board also allocated additional funding to go toward the construction of another home of about 1,500 square feet. The home will be located at 5532 E. Calle Encinas.
Each home will be available for first-time home buyers earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income, which is $74,800 annually for a family of four, according to the county.
