INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
The National Weather Service is forecasting drier and hotter weather this weekend, and state officials have issued an ozone high pollution advisory for both Saturday and Sunday.
Temperatures are expect to climb in the Phoenix area to 98 degrees on Sunday, reaching 100 on Monday, according to the forecast. Days and nights will be clear. Lows are expected to come in at 72 degrees.
Meantime the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued the pollution warning, noting the highest concentration of pollution may exceed the federal health standard.
“Active children, adults and people with lung disease such as asthma should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion,” health officials advise.
Also, wood burning fireplaces, outdoor fire pits and similar outdoor fires are prohibited in Maricopa County.
