Maricopa County officials outline evolving COVID-19 vaccination plans

With limited supplies, focus remains on those most at risk

A day after state officials announced their expansion of targeted groups to include residents over age 55, county health officials clarified their own COVID-19 vaccination strategy — which also focuses on those most at risk to the deadly disease.

The low-income community was the site of a special point of distribution aimed at vaccinating residents who may have trouble getting to one of the other county or state sites.

Marcy Flanagan, executive director of the county health department, spoke during the event, which hosted in partnership with the University of Arizona, whose volunteers helped administer the vaccine.
