Judge plans for quick ruling in former Glendale council member's lawsuit to remain in seat

The fate of a Glendale council member removed from his seat is likely going to get a quick legal decision to see if he can remain representing the Cactus District.

Early in the June 11 hearing of former Glendale City Councilmember Lupe Conchas’ lawsuit against the city and the remaining council members, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Greg Como stated that he intends to expedite the ruling.

The council voted out Conchas from his Cactus District seat May 28 by a 4-3 margin, determining he violated the city charter by accepting a position on an Salt River Project board that provides members compensation.
