During the coronavirus pandemic, Maricopa County is focusing funding toward ensuring next week’s election can be conducted safely, keeping small businesses afloat and preparing to administer vaccines — both for the flu and for COVID-19 once one is available.
Elections
The largest funding chunk distributed last week by far, $3.66 million in grants from nonprofits and the federal government, is headed to the polls. In its meeting last week, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors accepted a $2,995,921 grant from the nonprofit Center for Tech and Civic Life. The board allocated another $665,000 toward the election from its share of stimulus funding from the CARES Act, passed by Congress in the spring.
