For the third day this week, Maricopa County public health data showed the number of coronavirus cases and deaths above what had been a lower average.
Data from the Maricopa County Department of Public Health reported 562 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and eight new deaths. It marked the third day this week that the new number of cases was well above the seven-day rolling average. The number of deaths was slightly above the average.
The continued rise in coronavirus cases has seen the number creeping higher as more businesses have reopened as well as schools returning to in-class instruction. Cases counts are running slightly higher than they did in the run-up to a spike in June and July, but the growth has remained slow, according to county data.
