The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is expected to appoint a Republican to its governing body after a longtime member announced Tuesday he would resign.
Steve Chucri, supervisor for District 2, made the announcement following the release of a recording of him criticizing his GOP colleagues for opposing a review of the 2020 election, according to an Associated Press story.
Chucri, who also is president and CEO of the Arizona Restaurant Association, first took office in January 2013. Chucri’s resignation is effective Nov. 5.
