Maricopa County supervisors votes to ask judge for stay in case against county recorder

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 Wednesday afternoon to ask Maricopa County Judge Scott Blaney to stay his ruling in favor of Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap to turnover equipment related to elections.

The board also approved to an immediate appeal of the ruling if a stay is not granted.

The court on April 17 issued the ruling requiring the Board of Supervisors to return to Heap direct custody and control of the IT staff, servers, databases, software, web site, and equipment that were previously in the recorder’s custody or control prior to October 2024.
