Maricopa County agrees to pay $1.75 million over 2021 incident

Maricopa County has agreed to pay $1.75 million stemming from a 2021 incident where a sheriff’s detective shot a woman in Paradise Valley.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office investigators were accused of “improperly” executing a search warrant where a 66-year-old woman wound up being shot at a Paradise Valley home, according to a notice of claim.

On March 15, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved the measure to come to a settlement agreement at its regular meeting.
