Marian Dobmeier Welwood, 81Marian Dobmeier Welwood, 81, a winter visitor to Apache Junction, passed away suddenly March 30, 2008 at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Gilbert, Ariz.Marian Helen Kotaska was born May 1, 1926 to Frank and Helen (Jelinek) Kotaska in Pisek, N.D. She attended schools in the Pisek area until 1942 when the family moved to Grand Forks where Frank was employed at Colborn School Supply.She was united in marriage to Kenneth Jacob Dobmeier on Jan. 20, 1944 at St. Michael's Church in Grand Forks. Together they raised six children while she also worked part time at Dobmeier Insurance and Gene's Grocery. Later, she began her career at St. Michael's Hospital, United Hospital, and retired in 1978 from Altru Health System to care for Kenneth, who died July 4, 1981.Marian was married to Russell Francis Welwood in Coleman, Alberta, Canada on June 4, 1983. Their life alternated between their home on Tulaby Lake, Mahnomen County, Minn. and Countryside RV Resort in Apache Junction. Russ passed away March 3, 1995 in Apache Junction.Marian is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Kotaska; husbands, Kenneth Dobmeier and Russell Welwood; grandson, Bradley Litzinger.She is survived by her sister, Olga Fetsch of Grand Forks, N.D.; children, Perry (Susan) Dobmeier of Thompson, N.D, Patricia (David) Scramstad of Thief River Falls, Minn., Michael (Sandra) Dobmeier of Grand Forks, Susan (Joseph ) Litzinger of Grand Forks, Nancy (Thomas) Capes of Killeen, Texas, and Rebecca (Dean) Wong of Hugo, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael's Bridge Builders Club, 520 6th St. North, Grand Forks, N.D.
