Man wounded in West Valley police shooting

A man was hospitalized Friday morning after a shooting involving Buckeye police near Rainbow Road and Sundance Parkway, police said.

The shooting occurred after Buckeye police received a call about 3:45 a.m. Dec. 19 about a fight involving people at a home on Ashleigh Marie Drive, police said.

The first officer to arrive saw a man armed with a gun. Shortly after, an officer involved shooting occurred, according to a Buckeye Police Department release.

Man wounded in West Valley police shooting

A man was hospitalized Friday morning after a shooting involving Buckeye police near Rainbow Road and Sundance Parkway, police said.

The shooting occurred after Buckeye police received a call about 3:45 a.m. Dec. 19 about a fight involving people at a home on Ashleigh Marie Drive, police said.

The first officer to arrive saw a man armed with a gun. Shortly after, an officer involved shooting occurred, according to a Buckeye Police Department release.

The man, in his 40s, sustained a gunshot wound to his arm. The officer  applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding as emergency crews arrived.

The man was taken to a hospital where he is receiving treatment, authorities said  this morning. The officer was not injured.

The incident is under investigation by the West Valley Investigative Response Team with Glendale police taking the lead.
