A man and woman were found dead inside a car over the weekend, and police said they had been in the vehicle for several days.

Officers were called about 8:25 p.m. July 7 to the parking lot of a business near 75^th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard where they found two people dead inside a car. Witnesses told officers the pair had been in the same position for several days, according to a release from the Phoenix Police Department.

Detectives’ preliminary investigation found the man with a possible gunshot wound, and a firearm was found inside the car, the release stated.

There is an active investigation as detectives await the findings of post-mortem exams, police said.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness.
