A man walking near the scene of a rollover crash between two SUVs around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, near 6100 N. 59th Ave., was struck and killed as a result of the initial crash.
Glendale Police said Friday morning the man has not been identified yet and therefore, next of kin has not been notified.
Police received numerous calls of a vehicle rollover crash in this area involving two SUVs. Many callers reported the crash being serious and multiple people injured.
Once officers arrived on scene, they began speaking to those involved and present when this crash took place. The immediate area was closed off entirely.
One vehicle was traveling southbound on North 59th Avenue passing West Keim Drive when it collided into the rear of the second vehicle involved, which was also traveling southbound on 59th Avenue.
The first vehicle rolled onto its side and struck the patio of a nearby business. This vehicle was occupied by five individuals who were all transported from the scene to local hospitals by ambulance.
The sole occupant and driver of the second vehicle was uninjured and remained on scene. The pedestrian was transported from the scene to the hospital and later died.
Speed and impairment appear to be a factor in the investigation.
