Man tries to abduct fourth-grade student in Chandler

Chandler police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a fourth-grade student.

Around 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Chandler police responded to an assault call at Sirrine Elementary School, 591 W. Mesquite Road.

Police said a fourth-grade girl was walking to school when a white man in his 20s approached her and grabbed her arm in the area of Arizona Avenue and Warner Road.

The suspect did not speak or say anything to the student. The student was able to run to the school and reported the incident.

The suspect was described as being tall, and wearing a black Adidas long sleeved shirt, black pants, and possibly gray shoes. The Adidas logo was white and located on the front of the shirt. It was reported the suspect had an odor of alcohol emitting from his person.

The student was not injured.

The suspect’s direction of travel or method of travel is unknown.

Detectives from the Chandler Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau are investigating this incident.
