Man suspected of DUI in fatal collision: Phoenix PD

A man was arrested over the weekend and charged in connection with a collision that killed a pedestrian, police said.

Officers were called 11:20 p.m. July 12 in the 4900 block of North 83rd Avenue and found Juan Vasquez, 46, with critical injuries. He died at a hospital.

Detectives responded and “learned the driver was under the influence when he drove north on 83rd Avenue and hit the victim who was attempting to cross 83rd Avenue just south of Camelback Road,” a Phoenix Police Department release stated.

A man was arrested over the weekend and charged in connection with a collision that killed a pedestrian, police said.

Officers were called 11:20 p.m. July 12 in the 4900 block of North 83rd Avenue and found Juan Vasquez, 46, with critical injuries. He died at a hospital.

Detectives responded and “learned the driver was under the influence when he drove north on 83rd Avenue and hit the victim who was attempting to cross 83rd Avenue just south of Camelback Road,” a Phoenix Police Department release stated.

The driver, who police did not identify, was issued a citation and processed for DUI.
