Man struck, killed by car crossing 27th Avenue in Phoenix

A 34-year-old man is dead following a collision Wednesday when he was crossing near 300 North 27th Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk, police said, citing witness accounts.

Fernando Castrellon was hit by a car about 5:30 a.m. Nov. 22 and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Detectives are investigating the crash that occurred west of downtown Phoenix on 27th Avenue just north of Van Buren Street, according to a release.
