Pinal County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 35-year-old man in San Tan Valley over the weekend.

Just before midnight on Oct. 7, PCSO was called to the Gym Bar and Grill on Hunt Highway in San Tan Valley regarding shots fired, according to a PCSO Facebook post.

“While enroute, deputies were flagged down by witnesses near East Copper Mine Road and North Epidote Drive,“ the post stated. “Witnesses directed the deputy in the direction of the suspect, who was walking not far from there. The suspect was taken into custody and the firearm used in the shooting was secured.”

Additional deputies arrived at the scene of the shooting and provided medical help to the victim until emergency medical personnel arrived, the post added.

“The victim, 35-year-old Rogelio Ochoa, was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital,” the post stated.

A suspect identified as 45-year-old Travis Armstrong has been booked into the Pinal County Jail for second-degree murder, according to the post.
