Family members die after attending Thanksgiving get-together

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for causing a fatal crash that killed five in Peoria in November 2022, authorities said Friday.

Bjorn Hartzell, who was 16 at the time of collision, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee near 107th Avenue and Lone Cactus Drive in Peoria when he struck a minivan carrying a family of two adults and four juveniles who had just left a Thanksgiving get-together, according to a release from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
