Rudy Sanchez Jr., 20, has been indicted for a road rage shooting in Peoria, according to the Maricopa County Attorney.
Sanchez shot a woman in the leg in the car next to him near Peoria Avenue and the Loop 101, Oct. 10. He drove off but was arrested a few days later.
A grand jury indicted the man on the following charges:
• one count of drive by shooting, a class two dangerous felony;
• one count of discharge of a firearm at a structure, a class three dangerous felony;
• one count of aggravated assault, a class three dangerous felony;
• one count of aggravated assault, a class four dangerous felony;
• one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm, a class six dangerous felony.
Sanchez is being held on a $250,000 cash bond, which means he must pay the court the full amount in cash to be released. Trial is set for Feb. 26, 2026.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
During his police interview, Sanchez stated he believed the victim had cut him off in traffic and shot her because he felt “disrespected.”
"Road rage can escalate in seconds. If confronted with aggressive driving or verbal harassment, do not engage. Remain in your vehicle, avoid confrontation, and contact police if you feel threatened. No moment of anger is worth a life," police said.
