A 28-year-old man died Tuesday morning at the scene of a collision with light rail in the 4100 block of North Central Avenue, police said.
Mario Dircio-Castrejon was found by Phoenix officers about 5:05 a.m. Dec 30. after they responded to the collision near Central Avenue and Indian School Road.
The crash involved a vehicle and light rail, police said.
"The light rail involved was occupied by several passengers. In total, three of these passengers, to include the light rail operator, were transported to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons," a Phoenix Police Department release stated.
Detectives took over the investigation, and findings indicate that Dircio-Castrejon was traveling east on Indian School Road when he failed to stop for the red light at Central and collided with the southbound light rail, police said.
Additional details about the collision remain part of the ongoing investigation, police said.
