A man has been arrested and charged in a shooting death inside a Scottsdale apartment, a move the man says was self defense.
Jude Valle, 25, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of Gino Mendoza, 30, inside an apartment about 12:30 a.m. April 2 near 5800 North Granite Reef Road. Valle called 911 to report the shooting and stayed on scene, where he was detained by responding officers, according to a Scottsdale Police Department press release.

A man has been arrested and charged in a shooting death inside a Scottsdale apartment, a move the man says was self defense.
Jude Valle, 25, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of Gino Mendoza, 30, inside an apartment about 12:30 a.m. April 2 near 5800 North Granite Reef Road.
Valle called 911 to report the shooting and stayed on scene, where he was detained by responding officers, according to a Scottsdale Police Department press release.
Valle, who claims the shooting was in self defense, was booked into the Scottsdale Municipal Jail, according to the release.
Mendoza suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered emergency medical aid and Mendoza was transported to a local hospital but ultimately died of his injuries, the release said.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will determine Mendoza’s cause of death.
Detectives, crime scene personnel and representatives from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office all responded to the scene. The investigation continued early into the morning as investigators collected evidence, documented the crime scene and interviewed all involved parties.
